- This course in Concordance Approach (Medication Management) and Preventing Relapse at Middlesex University it is also for you to reflect and consider your own experience, about your adherence to treatment. The training will be of interest to anyone with a special interest in medication management, students on any health programmes, community-based practitioners, mental health professionals working in inpatient and community setting with service users.
- Study mode: Synchronous online delivery via virtual classroom using one of the following web-based learning and teaching platforms (e.g. MS teams, Kaltura new row, Adobe connect, Zoom). The content on the day will be delivered via a mixture of PowerPoint presentation, small group exercise and discussion, group feedback and recap/quiz.
- Effective use of medicines is an important part of self-management of chronic conditions. However, many people do not take their medicines. It is estimated that only half of people with chronic conditions adhere to their long-term medications and only a third follow general lifestyle recommendation.
Programme Structure
By the end of the session, participants should be able to:
- Describe what the concordance approach entails and what adherence to treatment can be affected by in general.
- Identify evidenced based strategies and use self-management tools to prevent relapse and promote recovery in users of mental health services.
- Describe and understand your role in promoting concordance in your area of work to improve patient outcomes.
