Overview
University of Strathclyde's Photograph File Management with Photoshop Elements class will look at where images are stored either on a computer or external hard drive, the different file types used to identify images and the folder structure used to store them.
Key facts
- Using the Organizer section of the software you will learn how to download images and import images already stored on your computer, how to 'quickly find' images using folders and albums or a ranking system, understand what metadata i.e. to see the camera settings and the date photographs were taken.
- Although the class uses Photoshop Elements, the process used will give an understanding of how other image management software work. In response to feedback from previous Photoshop Elements classes this 2 week `hands on’ class is dedicated to the file management of photographic images.
- Digital images can use a significant amount of storage memory, it is essential therefore that you manage your images efficiently. This class will look at where images are stored either on a computer or external hard drive, the different file types used to identify images and the folder structure used to store them.
Programme Structure
- Although sample images can be used, please bring along some personal images on a camera, or in a single folder on a memory stick, to allow further practise.
- To allow for efficient use of time please limit the number of photographs to no more than 20 and please bring the lead to attach your camera to the computer, card readers will be available.
