What you will study
This Introduction to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) course offered by Brock University addresses foundational concepts such as equal opportunity, bias, power, privilege and broader movements including anti-racism, de-colonization and reconciliation, 2S&LGBTQ+ and accessibility. The goal is for participants to become more confident with current terminology, available resources and practical ways to further their learning in order to move to action. We suggest taking this or a similar foundational program if you are considering additional programs in Brock’s EDIB suite of offerings.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Knowledge of the difference between equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- How to define relevant terminology in the EDIB space
- Identify key historical events, and understand their link to the critical conversations today
- The concept of systemic barriers
- How to address implicit bias and privilege
- Link EDIB to innovation and social and economic progress
- Knowledge of important legislation and resources
