What you will study
The Guitar School for Beginners course offered by Trent University will suit those novices who have very little or no previous experience. It is important that this be an enjoyable experience: the teaching is friendly, interactive and non-judgmental. At the completion of the course, you will have a good understanding of the instrument and be able to use chords to play some favourite songs.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- parts of the guitar;
- strings and frets;
- types of tuning;
- using the pick;
- strumming techniques;
- the capo;
- major, minor, seventh and barre chords;
- chord diagrams;
- understanding the complete fretboard;
- time signatures;
- common chord progressions;
- soloing;
- the pentatonic scale.
