What you will learn
In this Aquaponics Water Quality Management course offered by Lethbridge College , you will:
- complete readings and exercises that will allow you to outline the nitrogen cycle and explain its importance to basic aquaponics function;
- monitor and maintain aquaponic water quality for important characteristics such as pH, oxygen, conductivity and ammonia;
- supplement with micronutrients to maintain nutrients such as iron, potassium and/or calcium when or if required; and
- identify the basic kits and meters available to measure water quality.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Determine which, when, and where water quality parameters need to be monitored in aquaponics systems
- Identify and select appropriate methods, kits, and meters that can be used to measure water quality
- Interpret water chemistry and relate it to aquaponics system function
