Overview
What you will study
This Fish Production in Aquaponics course offered by Lethbridge College will outline the nitrogen cycle, and explain its importance to the basic aquaponics function.
The fish culture component of the aquaponics system is important. Essentially, you need to provide an environment that is sustainable and non-threatening to the wellbeing of your fish. If you think about natural ponds, rivers, and lakes, Mother Nature provides filters and waste removal naturally. Since aquaponics functions as an ecosystem, we want to mimic the processes found in nature to ensure consistent production and balance in our grow system. This balance is essential for your plants and fish to thrive.
