What you will study
In the Strategies for Managing Challenging Classroom Behaviours course offered by University of Queensland , you’ll hear how recent developments in neuroscience have provided insights into why students act as they do under certain conditions.
You’ll learn how to incorporate these principles into effective procedures for modifying student behaviour, including increasing, decreasing, extending or maintaining the duration of particular behaviours.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Increasing behaviours by arranging consequences and applying specific strategies that increase positive behaviour.
- Decreasing behaviours by arranging consequences and applying specific strategies to decrease inappropriate behaviour.
- Understanding the rationale for conducting a functional analysis before implementing a behaviour change plan.
- Understanding how to promote generalisation of appropriate behaviours across settings and time.
- Helping individuals learn to apply different self-management techniques to manage their behaviours.
