Through the theme light and shadow, this Painting and Drawing Studio 1 - Light and Shadow course offered by University of Melbourne focuses on tone, texture and colour as key to creating a compelling and contemporary drawing and painting practice.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Finding your creative ‘hand’
- Painting and drawing techniques with focus on tone and texture – chiaroscuro
- Colour theory – the power of monochrome, harmony and contrast
- Overview of historical and contemporary practices – the abstract and the figurative
- Exploratory practices and expression based on the prescribed theme of the Learning Period
