Overview
The Eurocodes (IStructE) are the European standards specifying how structural design should be conducted within the European Union (EU). The purpose of the Eurocodes is to provide:a means to prove compliance with the requirements for mechanical strength and stability and safety in case of fire established by EU law.a basis for construction and engineering contract specifications.

Learning and Teaching
The Eurocodes (IStructE) courses at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) are convened by Bob Benton BSc(Eng) CEng MIStructE, a chartered structural engineer with experience in designing building and civil engineering structures, including motorway projects and bridges. He is a visiting lecturer at UWE, where he teaches undergraduate, postgraduate and mid-career engineers. He has also authored educational material for The British Standards Institution.
