The Department of Geosciences at UniLaSalle offers students an unparalleled opportunity to complete geology fieldwork with this Geological Field School in France.

Overview

International and French students will have the opportunity to work alongside faculty members, 4th-year engineering students and specialists. They will carry out hands-on geological exploration in small groups.

Program aims

The UniLaSalle Geological Field School in France aims to extend learning from the classroom to the field in sediment mapping and mapping of magmatic or volcanic areas, or, alternatively, study the Alps transect or sequence stratigraphy in situ.

Programme Structure

The program will focus on:

  • Geological mapping class
  • Petrography
  • Structural and chronological synopsis of a cross-section
  • The Embrunais region
  • Sequence stratigraphic analysis of strata from the Digne-Valensol oligo-miocene foreland basin and of the Barreme Eocene piggy-back basin
