What you will learn
This Drinking Water and Sanitation Safety Plans course offered by Cranfield University will introduce you to the principles of Water Safety Plans, provide an understanding of ways to ensure safe water supply from different sources and the steps and procedures required for preventing the exposure of humans to diseases from human waste and disposal of human waste.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- Ways to ensure safe water supply from different sources,
- Identify chemicals of concern in drinking water systems, where and how problems could arise,
- Understand how to put in barriers and management systems to stop the problems before they happen,
- Understanding of the WHO guidelines and recommendations on sanitation safety,
- Understand the adverse health impact that can occur from the use of wastewater, excreta and greywater,
- Evaluate ways of reducing exposure along the chain of handling and disposal and preventing waste and wastewater from contaminating freshwater sources.
