Key facts
The module will require students to critically assess the evidence behind the management of solid tumours. Multidisciplinary approaches to perioperative care will be discussed, and the principles of surgical management, recent advances and future perspectives will be taught.

Programme Structure
Courses include:
- Critically discuss the evidence for and current best practice in the surgical management of a range of tumour types, e.g. GI, Gynae, Urological, breast, hepatobiliary
- Evaluate the issues involved in perioperative care and discuss the role of the multidisciplinary team members in helping to resolve these
- Critically discuss recent advances in surgical management, minimal access technique and modern imaging technologies
- Demonstrate an awareness of the future prospective of cancer management by surgery and where this fits into cancer management strategies as a whole.
