Overview
Earned Value Management (EVM) – the global de facto standard for performance management and project control
Performance measurement as the basis to manage projects, programs and portfolios, is becoming increasingly important for project-based organizations. Originally developed by the US Department of Defense (DoD) back in the mid-60's, Earned Value Management (EVM) has been maturing and evolving over the last decades as the global de facto standard for performance management and project control. The ultimate goal of EVM is to provide stakeholders with reliable data and quantitative information about the project status and performance to improve project success.
The adoption of Earned Value Management (EVM) implies a cultural change towards objectivity, proactivity, and opportunity management wherein variance, deviations, andchanges are all the source for developing knowledge, gaining better understanding and improving a project. Earned Value Management (EVM) is also the foundation for auditability in projects.
With the professional AACE - Earned Value Professional (EVP) certification, you demonstrate that you master the concept and application of Earned Value Management (EVM), a key requirement for all professionals involved in making or influencing management and business decisions in projects, programs, and portfolios.
Earned Value Management (EVM) is one of the most important and needed project management tools, especially in engineering and construction.
