Overview
The Scientific Writing in Context course from UCL Summer School is a scientific writing module and not a science module. As such, the science and mathematics of the phenomenon to be studied will be trivial to keep the focus of the module on writing.
Scientific communication involves more than just writing. It also involves the ability to read, analyse, understand and critique scientific subject matter clearly, at an appropriate depth and breadth, and with an appropriate style for the intended audience.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, students will have:
- Analysed, summarised, evaluated and synthesised relevant scientific literature to a suitable level.
- Written critically, coherently and cohesively, using appropriate scientific discourse, on the investigation of a scientific phenomenon.
- Properly constructed scientific writing according to the relevant organisational elements.
