Beginners Polish classes take place at International House's school in Covent Garden with a qualified, experienced teacher and fellow students. Evening language classes at IH London are dynamic and interactive as the emphasis is on spoken communication, which is achieved through lots of group work and role-plays.
At the same time, there is systematic work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, so that you can improve on all aspects of the language. Your teacher speaks in the target language throughout, so that you can refine your comprehension and listening skills.

By the end of your course, you should be able to:- Greet others, talk about yourself and others, and use polite expressions appropriately
- Ask and answer questions about personal details like name, nationality, job, and place of residence
- Talk about daily routines and handle basic transactions, such as buying items at a kiosk
- Use simple sentence structures, basic verbs in the present tense
- Ask both yes/no and open-ended questions
- Apply essential vocabulary including numbers (1–100), professions, and locations
- Describe people using basic adjectives
- Use correct pronunciation, intonation, and distinguish between formal and informal language in everyday situations
