Overview
You will examine child development theories and child-friendly pedagogy, as well as classroom management techniques. You will explore different types of games, listening activities for various learning environments and the use of authentic materials with young learners. You will also consider the power of storytelling and using children’s books.
The course highlights the importance of multimodal activities, such as songs, drama and arts and crafts, to enhance language acquisition. You will gain insights into supporting writing development, assessing young learners effectively and conducting useful and relevant classroom investigations.
Outcomes
By the end of the Teaching Young Learners (Online) course at Norwich Institute for Language Education, you will have developed a deeper understanding of how children learn, and refined your approach to teaching English in ways that are engaging, inclusive and effective.
