Features
The Study Skills for Health and Social Care Professionals module at Oxford Brookes University will explore study skills, basic numerical and IT skills and analytic and critical thinking skills, and will introduce students to a range of information technologies for learning and communication.
This module is taught online. Familiar and consistent pedagogic and technological design and language have been used across all module content to ensure coherent student experiences and to build a sense of belonging.
Programme Structure
Learning and assessment:- The module will introduce the students to technologies for study by showing them a range of tools to act autonomously, taking responsibility to plan their time, plan their writing and share their work with others.
- Students will be introduced to the Oxford Brookes library to locate and retrieve information for study, applying methods and techniques to choose appropriate evidence. Study week 4 will help to enhance students writing so that they can construct arguments and communicate them in an academic style.
- Study week 5 will introduce numerical skills, this will enhance both students' confidence with quantitative data and will help students to interpret tables and figures in papers and websites.
- Study week 6 on communication will help students to consider the needs of different audiences when communicating information, developing and applying interpersonal skills while enhancing areas of learning.
