Overview
You'll be required to produce solutions for two projects; these solutions will demonstrate your ability to apply, refine and develop computer models and solve structural problems (with the appropriate graphs and data).
Outcomes
By the end of this Finite Element Analysis course at Nottingham Trent University, you’ll be able to:
- integrate your knowledge of mathematics, science, information technology, design and engineering practice to solve a range of problems associated with finite element analysis
- assess the capabilities and limitation of computer-based methods in finite element analysis
- argue efficiently and effectively at all levels on matters of finite element analysis.
Programme Structure
This course will include:- weighted residual methods
- Galerkin finite element method
- differential equations for one and two-dimensional problems
- modal analysis of structures and the extraction of natural frequencies
- linear transient dynamic analyses
- nonlinear analysis, including buckling and the stability of structures
