Overview
During the course you will explore the strategic needs and capabilities required to plan and manage a business in complex environments such as learning from manufactures and lean thinking, understanding project and risk management and cover a range of different management techniques and tools.
Outcomes
By the end of this Managing Organisations and Projects in Civil Engineering course at Nottingham Trent University, you’ll be able to:
- evaluate the different and complex environments within which civil engineering, design and construction organisations operate
- determine and critically discuss the nature of different business strategies and their implementation
- summarise and evaluate the strategic and implementation capabilities required to plan and manage a business in a multiplicity of complex environments and organisation structures
- explore the social, cultural and political diversity between peoples in order to promote tolerance, understanding and acceptance of those diversities to reduce cultural barriers between parties in construction projects and/or in the construction industry.

- Level: Professional/postgraduate
- Entry Requirements: You should have a minimum of three years’ professional experience and have the support of your employer to integrate study and projects into your day-to-day work.
- You will probably be employed on significant infrastructure or building works, with experience of developing and coordinating projects.
- If you wish to receive credit, you should also have a 2:2 honours degree in a construction-related subject.
- Applicants with non-standard entry qualifications and/or relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis.
