Overview
The Sustainable Transport Planning and Engineering course at Nottingham Trent University provides a sound background to the decision-making processes involved in, and the design and implementation of, major transport infrastructure schemes.
It will cover policy, standards, codes of practice and design and assessment methodologies for a range of transport infrastructure projects.

Programme Structure
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:- critically review key transport planning policies
- evaluate key traffic and highway engineering design principles and methods
- review key legislation and environmental policies
- integrate different modes of transport and make travel safer, greener and more efficient
- analyse different perspectives on transport and their underlying assumptions
- assess future transport demand and its impact
- analyse key opportunities and issues
- apply a range of methods of collecting, analysing and presenting transport data
- model the impact of a range of interventions, and design objective-led strategies
- conceptualise and design appropriate transport infrastructure and determine whether designs are fit for purpose
- deliver integrated transport solutions
- analyse the complex nature of the environment-transport interface
- make informed judgements regarding the suitability of infrastructure projects, and be able to critically evaluate designs

- You should have a minimum of three years’ professional experience and have the support of your employer to integrate study and projects into your day-to-day work.
- You will probably be employed on significant infrastructure or building works, with experience of developing and coordinating projects.
- If you wish to receive credit, you should also have a 2:2 honours degree in a built environment subject area.
- Applicants with non-standard entry qualifications and/or relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis.
