Programme Structure
By the end of this course, you will be able to:- Apply the principles of basic financial mathematics, including day count conventions and the time value of money
- Understand the structure and role of the money market, its instruments, and the function of central banks in liquidity operations
- Explain the mechanics of spot and forward foreign exchange, including quotation, calculation of cross rates, and covered interest arbitrage
- Define and apply forward rate agreements (FRAs), including their calculation, settlement, and use in hedging
- Understand the function and mechanics of financial futures, including currency and short-term interest rate futures
- Apply the principles of interest rate swaps, including their uses, pricing, and variations such as SONIAs
- Evaluate the use of currency and interest rate options as tools for risk management and basic trading strategies
