Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy delivered by University of Sunderland is for those who care for patients undergoing systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) and chemotherapy.

The course covers the anatomy and physiology of cell biology and cancer, exploring how it develops in the body. This is the only face-to-face course of its kind in the north of England.

We teach the course on campus over eight weeks. You'll learn from University lecturers and healthcare professionals who work in oncology in the region.

Assessment is in two parts:

  • Part 1: A critical reflective case study
  • Part 2: An action plan that reflects how you could improve patient care. Questions relating to the action plan follow this.

  • This course explores a range of anti-cancer treatments used in patient care. You’ll also learn about how they're used and their side effects. This includes chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, and targeted therapies.
