Features
In this Hairdressing course at The Sheffield College you will cover essential areas of hairdressing, including technical skills (such as cutting and colouring), customer service skills to equip you for working in a salon, and essential knowledge regarding health and safety for the hair and beauty industry.
It is strongly recommended that you obtain a placement (either paid or unpaid) with a local salon alongside the course, however this is not a mandatory requirement.

General requirements
- Applicants must have Level 2 Functional Skills in English or the equivalent GCSE.
- ESOL learners should have achieved Level 1 in all 4 elements – speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will be asked to produce the evidence of the appropriate qualification.
- The ideal candidate will be a good communicator and listener with excellent social skills, demonstrate a degree of artistic skills and flair, be highly dexterous, friendly and have physical stamina.
- You will be expected to attend all sessions in full and participate in some self directed learning on a weekly basis.
- Good computer skills are an essential requirement to be able to access course materials and communicate with staff.
