Features
Throughout the Dental Nursing course at Warwickshire College, learners’ knowledge will be assessed by their designated course lecturer and assessor, and observations will be carried out in the workplace. Your assessor will provide feedback on your written work and support you with the completion of the portfolio of evidence and with passing the exam.
Your course lecturer and assessor will fully support you at all times and will carry out regular sessions where your coursework and progress will be discussed. We will also invite your practice manager to take part in these sessions.
Programme Structure
Modules may include:
- Preparing for professional practice in dental nursing
- The impact of health and safety legislation on working practices in the dental setting
- Prevention and control of infection control in the dental setting
- Dental and regional anatomy, oral health assessments and treatment planning
- Recognising and supporting actions during first aid and medical emergencies
- The safe use of ionising radiation to produce quality radiographic images
- Provide support for the control of periodontal disease and caries and the restoration of cavities
- Provide support during the stages of prosthetic treatment
- Provide support during the stages of endodontic procedures
- Provide support during extractions and minor oral surgery
- Scientific and practical information to support the patient's oral and physical health
