Overview
The Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at Warwickshire College offers knowledge of school practice, relevant to children and young people aged 4-19 years, in all types of education provision.
Outcomes
On completion candidates may choose to 'top up' to the full level 2 Certificate, with a further 6 units and school placement experience of 30 days (as a volunteer or in a paid role).
Programme Structure
Modules may include:
- Communication and professional conduct: how to build professional relationships with pupils 4-19 years and adults in a school environment
- Safeguarding: understand the responsibilities of a classroom professional in keeping children 4-19 safe, and how to recognise signs of possible harm
- Equality, diversity and inclusion: understand the wider context of social, cultural and learning inclusion, and how schools shape pupils' attitudes and views of the world
- Child and young person development 0-19 years: recognise both 'expected' development and differences across the age range, and the factors that can influence development
- Schools as organisations: who does what in a school? How are different types of schools run? What is the role of a school in their community?
