This Improving Physical Health in Severe Mental Illness course at the University of Roehampton will be of interest to all healthcare professionals, including students on any health programmes, mental health professionals working in inpatient and community settings with service users, and anyone with a special interest in improving physical health needs in severe mental illness (SMI).
Programme Structure
By the end of the session, you should be able to:- Describe epidemiology related to poor physical health in SMI
- Identify the common physical/medical problems in SMI
- Examine factors behind poor physical health needs in SMI
- Describe the process/activities of conducting physical health assessment in SMI
- Outline the mandatory physical health checks/monitoring conducted in the SMI population (6\12 monthly checks)
- Develop and understand your role in physical health monitoring
