Overview
In this Spatial Audio module at the University of Salford, the spatial hearing capabilities of the auditory system are investigated and spatial audio systems including stereo, binaural, transaural, 5.1, ambisonics, wavefield synthesis and object-based audio will be investigated both in terms of theory and practical use.

There will be opportunities to audition and experiment with a number of different immersive audio systems during practical sessions in the recording studios and listening room.
Programme Structure
You will:- Gain a systematic understanding of how the auditory system allows humans to perceive different attributes of spatial audio
- Achieve an in-depth understanding of various spatial audio systems available and the tools to critically evaluate them
- Achieve understanding of the specific requirements and demands of delivering spatial audio to users, including in relation to human hearing
- Gain experience and understanding of perceptual audio experiment design and implementation

- An undergraduate award at 2:2 or above (or equivalent) in science, engineering or mathematics.
- An undergraduate award at 2:2 or above (or equivalent) in another discipline, together with an appropriate engineering mathematics foundation qualification.
