The University  boasts a diverse culture, which is represented across the study body and faculty.  Within the module, there is an opportunity to learn with other professionals who come from a range of disciplines (Social Worker, Nursing and Occupational Therapy), which makes it a rich learning environment.

We have Library/Learning Centres at all our campuses - Harrison Learning Centre (City Campus), Telford and Walsall.

What skills will I gain?

The course will enable you to meet the Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS). The learning outcomes align with the PEPS standards, and the social worker must demonstrate these in practice to achieve the Practice Education Stage 2 qualification. They will enable the social worker to:

  • Work with others to organise an effective learning environment and demonstrate a deepened and extended ability to support, supervise, teach and assess a student in a practice setting.
  • Critically apply and evaluate theories and models of practice learning (focussing on reflective supervision) used to teach, facilitate, and support learning and professional development in practice.
  • Critically apply and analyse knowledge and understanding of an area of complexity in fair and transparent practice assessment (e.g. multiple performance criteria, disagreement, competing claims to jurisdiction, failing students).
  • Critically evaluate own performance, demonstrating an ability to deepen and extend ability and expertise in practice education.
