Overview
Through a comprehensive teaching programme, involving academics and practitioners with recognised expertise in the field, the initiative will provide participants with a thorough overview of the legal, organisational and technological issues relating to crime prevention within corporations, along four main lines of enquiry:
The programme will be complemented by round tables and in-depth seminars based on the analysis of concrete cases and the active involvement of participants. For each lecture, the teaching staff will compile a set of documents and upload them to the Summer School’s MS Teams channel. Participants may refer to these materials during the seminars and when preparing for the final test.
A total of twenty-five hours of lectures, round tables and seminars will be scheduled in either the morning or the afternoon, enabling participants to devote the other half of the day to individual or group study. An MS Teams connection will be provided to enable online attendance of lectures and seminars. Upon completion of the lectures and seminars, on 22 June 2027 participants will sit an online test in which they will be asked to examine the topics covered during the course in depth.
The Summer School will be activated with at least 10 students. The maximum number of participants is set to 40 students.
The Summer School will be held on campus, in Pisa, at Palazzo della Sapienza, Via Curtatone e Montanara, 15.
The program will be activated also in distance learning mode (TEAMS platform).
Programme Structure
The Summer School aims to provide young scholars, students nearing the completion of their university studies, legal practitioners and all those who deal with complex organisations on a daily basis, such as lawyers, in-house counsel, auditors, chartered accountants and engineers, with a sound understanding of compliance mechanisms and the legal, practical and technological issues arising from them.
The obligations to criminalise legal entities imposed by supranational conventions and EU legislation translate into increasingly demanding self-organisation duties for companies, calling for specific and well-defined expertise. The Summer School will explore these duties and the present and future challenges arising from them.
Lectures, round tables and seminars will be enriched by contributions from professionals specialising in compliance, particularly in the ‘231 system’.
