Civil Sitework Construction

Overview

The Civil Sitework Construction online program at San Diego State University will help students develop usable skills in understanding construction equipment utilization, civil blueprint reading, and civil estimating. 

The program focuses on skills needed by constructors interested in site development. Excavation, roads, bridges, and underground utilities will also be covered. 

Students will learn how to work with the earth, how to select, use, and budget for the best equipment needed to transform a plot of land into a developed site and how to utilize related construction documents.

The Certificate

To complete the certificate, students will complete the following four core courses: Construction Equipment and Methods, Practical Applications of Civil Construction, Estimating Civil Construction, and Civil Blueprint Reading and Materials.

Students must also complete one additional elective course (Contract Documents and Construction Law or Planning and Scheduling). This certificate can be completed in 5 months. All classes should be completed within two years of starting the program.
