History

The University of Newcastle (UoN), informally known as Newcastle University, is an Australian public university established in 1965. It has a primary campus in Callaghan, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales. The university also operates campuses in Ourimbah, Port Macquarie, Singapore, Newcastle CBD and Sydney CBD.

Services

Student services

The Office of Student Advocacy provides free and confidential assistance in navigating the rules and regulations of the University. Student Advocates can help with a range of things including providing an understanding ear to hear your issues, providing information and advice about policies and procedures, assisting you with appeals, and support you with mediation, negotiation and advocacy to resolve your issues.

Housing services

We know students need secure, affordable and comfortable accommodation when they are studying. Whether you’re interested in living on or off campus, we have services to help you.

More than 900 students, including many international students, live on campus at the University of Newcastle. You will find a diverse community of friends who study, play sports, and relax together. You can choose to live in a private or a shared room, and we can provide your meals or you can cook your own meals. Our nine campus residence buildings are close to class and 20-minutes to town and the beach.

Campus life

Our campuses are a wonderful mix of award winning, architecturally designed buildings and world-class infrastructure scattered over 140 hectares of natural bushland. We have a reputation for having one of the most naturally beautiful campuses in Australia and we work hard to protect it.

Accreditation

The University of Newcastle’s Business School (NBS) has received international acclaim for its programs through accreditation with the international accrediting body Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

The Newcastle Business School Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management major) and Master of Human Resource Management programs are accredited with the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI).
