History
Established in 1991, ECU took the opportunity to reshape the way higher education is delivered in a distinctive and inspiring campus environment.
Education
The university is now organised into eight teaching schools, with each school responsible for ongoing research programs. This follows a university-wide academic reorganisation in 2016 to enhance academic performance, create clearer accountabilities and responsibilities, and enhance executive decision making.
Research
Our world-class research transcends medical practice, driving health outcomes and quality of life. It leverages our unique geographical location, tying the natural environment to the built. It's also at the forefront of shaping our digital future, addressing the challenges of the digital revolution. And it shapes the culturally-rich society we live in today, informing and protecting communities.
ECU houses eight schools, ranging in diversity, each driving research excellence and striving for world-class status.
Career
Our Career and Employability Advisers have a wide range of experience in many industries and have post-graduate qualifications, skills and experience in supporting people in all aspects of developing their careers. Advisers are located within your Student Hub.
Some of the issues that may be addressed in an appointment with a Career and Employability Adviser include:
- course advice - when you're unsure the course you're studying is right for you, or need help choosing a course in line with your career goals
- career development - to develop a year-by-year plan of career development activities so you become an 'job ready' graduate
- career planning - when you're unsure what you can do with your degree
