Polimoda

Human-centric values uphold the institutional foundation. Polimoda brings attention back to what really counts: the body and mind of young students, their gaze as it is, full of dreams and nightmares.

History

In 1986, Polimoda was founded as Politecnico Internazionale della Moda in an agreement between two international centres of fashion, and two trailblazers of the industry. The first classes took place at Villa Strozzi in central Florence that year, and the Institute has only grown in strength and influence since then.

Education

Polimoda faculty are industry leaders with unique ideas and innovative experiences. They are a driving force of inspiration and eternally committed to student success.

Career

  • All undergraduate and master courses provide an internship at the end of the studies, allowing students to apply what they have learned, complete their training in a professional reality, and adding their value to the working world.
  • The Internship & Careers Office takes care to organize meetings with HR managers, headhunters and professionals with our graduating students, on the basis of individual skill and achievement.

Student services

  • The Information and Orientation Office is your first point of contact to the world of Polimoda.
  • The dedicated and knowledgeable team can provide all the information you need about the institution, on the courses and the related employment opportunities, as well as valuable support on how to apply, life in Florence, housing and other services.

Housing services

  • Polimoda offers a Housing Service specially tailored to students who have to move away from home to attend Polimoda. This makes your search for accommodation in Florence easier and safer.
  • Polimoda work with different kinds of accommodation facilities and estate agents, who are able to respond to any requests on living spaces and their position in relation to Polimoda.

Library services

Polimoda’s Library, Centro di Documentazione Matteo Lanzoni, houses the most significant collection of publications on the international fashion industry in Italy. This space serves as a primary source of information for inspiration to students, researchers and professionals.

ICT services

  • In 1994, Polimoda inaugurated a centre for technology to meet the educational needs of students and to provide a reference point for companies and professionals in the fashion industry who want to use the CAD-CAM systems.
  •  In 5 computer labs equipped with more than 120 graphic workstations, students can find both PC’s and Mac’s, as well as A4 and A3 scanners and graphic tablets.

Campus life

Polimoda’s students thrive across three campuses in Florence: the historic Villa Favard, the contemporary Design Lab and the new campus inside Manifattura Tabacchi. Whether centuries old or ultra-modern, these spaces are hubs of activity, creativity and new ideas that are changing the future of fashion as we know it.
