Originally named the University of Deseret, the University of Utah is the oldest state university west of the Missouri River. Founded in Salt Lake City on 28 February 1850, the school's first term - for men only - in November of 1850. The second term was opened to both women and men. At the end of the third term in 1852, classes were discontinued because of lack of funds.

The International Student & Scholar Services office serves as the primary campus contact for international students, scholars, and alumni. Our office fosters and supports a global campus community as part of the University of Utah's vision of a welcoming and internationally connected campus.
The Accommodations Policy Committee, chaired by Kate Coles, Professor of English, developed this policy after more than 20 meetings with students, faculty and community members. The Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah runs one of the nation’s oldest internship programs. Each year, the Hinckley Institute places nearly 400 students locally, nationally, and globally in a wide range of government, nonprofit, think tank, and business organizations. For five decades, the Institute has championed the learning outcomes of engaging multidisciplinary students in civic processes and practical politics.

It is a great University, I consider that the study plan for my degree is very good, like everything there could be improvements but I consider that it is a complete study plan and that it seeks the best preparation for the student. As a place of study, the campus is truly of European level, with very comfortable rooms and truly equipped laboratories. As a University, despite being barely 30 years old, it has managed to position itself in Chile as a University of Excellence with professors of the highest academic and even professional level.
In my opinion, the University of Utah is a highly commendable institution to attend due to its numerous advantages. The campus possesses vast potential, boasts a fantastic location, and is inhabited by amiable individuals including an exceptional staff. The level of expertise and support exhibited by my instructors is unparalleled, making me genuinely relish attending classes and engaging with my peers. They furnish exceptional education and go above and beyond to ensure that we receive the necessary assistance whenever required.
The University of Utah is a great school with state of the art programs without insane cost of attendance. While there have been incidents on campus that occasionally lead me to feel unsafe, the U provides resources for that and provide safety escorts for free, all you have to do is call.
