Accreditation

The University of Michigan – Ann Arbor undergoes institutional reaccreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in ten-year cycles. Each cycle culminates in a comprehensive evaluation, the next of which takes place in the year 2020 and involves several components, including the following:

  • quality initiative
  • assurance argument
  • federal compliance report
  • student opinion survey
  • campus visit
Faculty and staff lead this work for each school and college, Student Life, and the University Library, in collaboration with a core team from the Provost’s Office and the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching who oversee the process. Nearly every campus unit is involved in the reaccreditation process in some way.
