History
Tsinghua University was established in 1911, originally under the name “Tsinghua Xuetang”. The school was renamed "Tsinghua School" in 1912. The university section was founded in 1925. The name “National Tsinghua University” was adopted in 1928.
Education
The faculty greatly valued the interaction between Chinese and Western cultures, the sciences and humanities, the ancient and modern. Tsinghua scholars Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao, Chen Yinque and Zhao Yuanren, renowned as the "Four Tutors" in the Institute of Chinese Classics, advocated this belief and had a profound impact on Tsinghua's later development.

Home to 149 key research institutes and 13 key state laboratories, Tsinghua’s research and innovation address real-world problems and improve lives.
Tsinghua University diligently focuses on addressing the challenges faced by both Chinese and global societies by developing competitive and creative solutions, enhancing research efforts on strategic and global issues, and aiming for topics with significant prospective importance. As part of these efforts, Tsinghua actively engages in Asian/African/Latin American studies, and carries out mid- and long-term strategic studies on key issues of human societies.
Career
Tsinghua Student Career Development Center (http://career.tsinghua.edu.cn) serves to help the students with their career planning and development, provide talent-training courses, collect and publish the information on the job vacancies in the society that are open to the university graduates, organize recruiting events, and offer career counseling and guidance.

Student services
The Student Services Center is located in the student living area, and is comprised of many supporting facilities, such as a bank, post office, supermarket, copy shop, bookstore, photography studio, optical shop and barber shop. In addition, the Front Desk of the Student Dormitory is located in the Student Service Center, which provides a 24 hour "one-stop" service.
Housing services
The Zijing International Student Apartments of Tsinghua University provide three types of dormitory rooms to the international students: single room (private bedroom and bathroom), RMB 80/day; AB room (private bedroom, shared bathroom), RMB 80/day/person; double room (two beds in one room, shared bathroom on each floor), RMB 40/day/person. Included in each room are bedclothes, air-conditioner, telephone, Internet access and furniture.
Library services
The first library of Tsinghua University was set up in 1912, which integrates both Chinese and Western styles.
Currently the university library comprises the Old Library, the Yifu Library, the Mochtar-Riady Library, the Humanities and Social Sciences Library, the Arts Library, the Finance Library, the Law Library, the Economics and Management Library and the Architecture Library.
Campus life
The campus of Tsinghua University is situated in northwest Beijing on the site of the former imperial gardens of the Qing Dynasty, and surrounded by a number of historical sites.
Sports facilities
Tsinghua has a long sporting tradition and encourages students to regularly participate in sporting activities. The campus is fully equipped with many different sports facilities, and has more than 10 sports grounds open to students, and 6 courts with lights for evening use.
The School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University (Tsinghua SEM) was recently awarded accreditation by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
