History
Established in 1983, SZU received support from top Chinese universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University and Renmin University of China in the founding of new schools. In the past decades, the University has undergone rapid growth and has become a comprehensive university with complete disciplines, top-ranked academic and research institutes and awe-inspiring faculty.
Education
SZU offers a wide array of undergraduate and graduate programs and provides students with an interdisciplinary and inclusive multicultural learning environment. Students in SZU enjoy the plenty resources and facilities of both the SEZ and the University, pursue academic excellence and discover new interests and opportunities in a fast-changing era.

Student services
International Office serves as a bridge of Shenzhen University to link its overseas reaches, as well as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan in terms of cooperation of higher education. Through International Office, the university fulfils broad range of international missions, such as establishment of foreign partnerships, developing international programs, recruitment of foreign language teachers and teachers for special courses, assisting and overseeing inbound and outbound visiting academics

Library services
Since the construction of the first university library building (Huidian building on the Yuehai campus, 23,441㎡) in 1986, SZU Library system has come a long way with the additions of the Huizhi building on the Yuehai campus (May 2009, 25,000㎡), the Lihu campus library (The first phase) on the Lihu campus (May 2017, 2,761㎡), the central library on the Lihu campus (In building, 40,000㎡).
Campus life
SZU comprises two campuses, Houhai campus and Xili campus, occupying 2.72 square kilometers of land area in total. The Houhai campus is located near the picturesque coastline of Houhai Bay with 1.34 square kilometers land area, spreading across rolling hills covered with lichee trees and flowers, two lakes, a forest, an abundance of green space and works of art. The new Xili campus now under construction is located in the city’s University Town and takes up nearly 1.38 square kilometers and is scheduled to open in the end of 2016.

SZU, as one of the 54 MOE accredited Chinese universities for international education and the HSK testing institution, began to enroll international students in 1987.
