In 1868, MRUZ became a higher educational institution - the Imperial Moscow Technical School. The first departments of IMTU are organized. The first graduation of graduate engineers. Certificate issued by IMTU in 1871. in 1901-1904 A dormitory, buildings of mechanical, physical, chemical-technological institutes, and the institute of fibrous materials are being erected.
BMSTU has 19 departments providing full-time education. University provides postgraduate and doctorate programs and has two affiliated secondary schools. More than 19,000 students study in BMSTU, and specialties cover all range of modern machine and instrument building. More than 320 doctors of science (Russian degree higher than PhD) and 2000 candidates of science (similar to PhD) teach and do research in BMSTU.

Bauman people are unique creative personalities. The Student Council provides opportunities for any student to realize their ideas by conducting training, master classes and providing support for projects. We believe in Bauman people and always support initiatives and new ideas. Any student can become not only a participant, but also the main organizer of events at the University, or even create his own club with the support of the MGTU Student Council. This is how the cinema club "Kinoshki", "Bauman Active Sports", "Literary apartment house", "KvizON" and many other things appeared.
The hostel is located in an equipped area of the capital, bordering a large city park (Izmailovsky Park). At a distance of 5-8 minutes on foot are the Izmaylovskaya metro station and a department store. The journey using the metro from the hostel to the main building of the University takes 30 … 40 minutes.
The university scientific library is one of the eldest among Russian universities. It was founded in 1830. The library fund includes 2.7 million of storage units of educational and scientific literature. An important part of the library fund is a collection of reports and theses made by BMSTU scientists.

I’ve had an overall positive experience at Moscow State Technical University. The campus itself is beautiful, with a rich history and a supportive academic environment. The professors are knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, and there are plenty of opportunities to engage with the academic community. However, one area where the university could improve is in terms of technology and infrastructure. The academic system feels somewhat outdated, and there is a noticeable gap in the use of modern technologies compared to other leading universities. While some departments are doing their best to keep up, there is still a need for better resources, more cutting-edge labs, and more emphasis on digital learning tools. Overall, it’s a solid institution, but it would benefit greatly from modernizing certain aspects of its infrastructure.
