As part of one of the largest summer programs in the United States, it is your chance to experience American culture firsthand and to make friends from the US and other countries over the summer. Satisfy a prerequisite, accelerate your collegiate career, or challenge yourself with a topic you’ve always wanted to learn about. With 600 courses to choose from, Berkeley Summer Sessions offers rigorous academic options in the heart of the Bay Area.

Berkeley academic programs are recognized internationally for their excellence. You can expect a rigorous academic experience during your summer studies. The accelerated instruction of Summer Sessions means that you will learn a semester’s worth of material in just one summer. Berkeley courses are known for an engaged learning style where you interact frequently with the instructor and other students.

Choose from undergraduate courses in more than 80 subjects, including arts, engineering, humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and the professional fields of architecture, business, education, public health, and social welfare.

Courses are offered in three, six, eight, or 10-week intensive sessions. All courses are regular university courses and are recorded on an official UC Berkeley transcript.

  • UC Berkeley is the worlds premier public university and a wellspring of innovation. It occupies a 1,232-acre campus with a park-like 178-acre central core. It is oldest of the 10 University of California campuses.
  • Libraries: Berkeley has one of the top university libraries in the country and is open to you during Summer Sessions. With 12 million books, more than 400 special collections and 32 campus libraries, it has been ranked first in the USA among public libraries by the Association of Research Libraries.
  • Health & Wellness: University Health Services provides comprehensive medical and mental health services to all UC Berkeley students. You can also play dozens of sports and stay active through the REcreational Sports Facilities.
