History
Banaras Hindu University was created under the Parliamentary legislation - B.H.U. Act 1915. It played a stellar role in the independence movement and has developed into the greatest center of learning in India.
Education
The university comprises 3 Institutes, 14 Faculties 140 Departments, 4 Inter displinary Centers a constituent college for women's and 3 Constituents Schools, spanning a vast range of subjects pertaining to all branches of humanities,social science,technology, medicine ,science, fine arts and performing arts. It has 6 centres of Advanced Studies, 10 Departments under Special Assistance Programme and a large number of specialized Research Centers.

Library services
Mahila Mahavidyalaya library is intended exclusively for the use by the students, faculty members and non teaching staff of the college. However, others are welcome to use the library for consultation, temporary permits can obtain on request for the same.
The Library aims to supplement the teaching in order to cater to the requirements of various subjects.
ICT services
The Computer Center provides quality service to the University community in computing facilities, E-Mail, etc. It helps researchers to get their research data analyzed, extends Internet facilities in the University, enables access to World Wide Web and provides laboratory facility to the students of science and technology.
Campus life
The area of the main campus of this premiere Central University is 1300 acres, having well maintained roads, extensive greenery, a temple, an air strip and buildings which are an architectural delight. The Air Field of the campus was started for military training for flying during the second world war. Another campus of the university at Barkachha , in Mirzapur district, covering an area of 2700 acres is coming up.

Student clubs
In order to endow with overall development of future managers, classroom teaching at FMS-BHU is complemented with sports, cultural, personality development and literary activities. The students of faculty organize various events under banner of student's clubs with full support and guidance from teachers and management. The club activities are organized after college hours and during weekends to help students in relaxing themselves as well as keeping at par with the happenings of business and management world.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU), formerly known as Central Hindu College, is a central university. It is accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC and is recognized by the UGC It also belongs to the AIU.
