School for International Training was officially established in 1964. However, its roots date back to 1932 when Dr. Donald Watt founded The Experiment in International Living, which aims to improve understanding across cultures and nations by sending US students abroad to live with families in their communities in order to expand their worldviews.
School for International Training is a U.S.-accredited global institution with learning centers in more than 30 countries worldwide. Faculty are accomplished scholar-practitioners who live and work in the regions where programs take place, bringing real-time global expertise directly into the learning experience. Through site visits and applied projects, students gain firsthand insight into the forces shaping their fields. Graduates leave equipped with practical skills, global insight, and lasting professional relationships—joining a worldwide alumni network advancing meaningful work across sectors and regions.
