History
The history of our university dates back to the post-war years, when in 1946 the Faculty of Medicine was established at the combined University and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. In 1950, it was transformed into the Medical Academy, and in 2012, we became the Medical University of Piast Dynasty in Wroclaw.
Education
Wroclaw Medical University offers studies in 10 fields of study in Polish and 3 in English. For postgraduate students, we offer the Doctoral School. We aim to provide our students with the best possible learning and development conditions. The modern premises of the Scientific Medical Information Centre are bustling with activity. Future doctors, nurses, midwives and paramedics master their practical skills at the University Clinical Hospital and Medical Simulation Center. Dentistry students use the professionally equipped dental offices of the University Dental Center on Krakowska Street.
Research
Scientists from Wroclaw Medical University are conducting three prestigious grants financed by the European Commission, including two under the Horizon 2020 Programme, SECURE and BETA-3. Among them, nationally unique non-commercial clinical studies by a team led by Prof. Piotr Ponikowski.Prof. Donata Kurpas, PhD, and Maria Magdalena Bujanowska-Fedak, PhD, along with experts from Spain, Italy, Holland and Portugal analyse the problem of elderly weakness within the FOCUS project.A team of Prof. Piotr Dzięgiel, in association with Singapore, has developed a patent which gives new hope to breast cancer patients. A high level of the analysed protein in cancer cells means that patients will respond to chemotherapy.

Housing services
Wroclaw Medical University has two dormitories, offering accommodation to all our students. They are located in close proximity to the Historical Campus, in quiet, serene surroundings by the Odra River and just a few minutes’ walk from bus and tram stops, from where you can reach the city center in less than 15 minutes. The rooms are fully furnished, and the common areas on each floor include a kitchen and a laundry room. On the ground floor, there is a study room and a common room with a TV and games available. Each of our dormitories offers wireless internet access, coffee and snack machines, a student clinic, a spacious parking lot, a bicycle shelter, 24-hour reception, and building monitoring.
Library services
Wroclaw Medical University is proud of its Scientific Medical Information Center, which houses both a cafeteria and the Main Library. The library's collection includes both electronic and traditional books. It offers silent zones as well as rooms for quiet study, equipped with medical teaching aids.

Campus life
The Campus is located in the center of the city. All buildings are in close neighbourhood. There is canteen in our library building offering tasty meals. In the walking distance there are shopping mall, many restaurants, cafes, etc.

There are almost 120 student organizations at the university. Thanks to this, you can develop scientifically, sports and artistically, as well as be socially active.
