Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) was founded in 1953 as India's first self-financing medical college under a public-private model. Over the years, it expanded to become a Deemed to be University in 1993. The Director, Student Affairs, looks after the welfare of students and is available in office on the first floor of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education building on all working days.
Housing services
MIT hostel rooms are comfortably-furnished and make for a good home away from home.Girls and boys have separate blocks and each block has a fixed capacity. There is a range of accommodation options to choose from, for students’ convenience.For first-year students, for instance, the double or triple common dorm-type accommodation gives them the comfort of company as they settle into their college and course. It also gives them opportunity to make friends and get acquainted with the campus and its facilities. In this kind of accommodation, they have access to TV room and other leisure/sports activities within the hostel premises.

MAHE holds prestigious accreditations including an 'A' grade from NAAC and NBA accreditation for various programs. Recognized as an Institution of Eminence (IoE) by the Government of India, it emphasizes quality education and research. MAHE is also recognized by the UGC and holds distinctions such as TIFAC-CORE in Pharmacogenomics under Vision 2020. It is designated as a Centre of Excellence for Radiation Biodosimetry by AERB, DAE, and as a Centre of Excellence by DBT and VGST, Government of Karnataka.
