History
Sechenov University is the first and the oldest medical school in Russia tracing its history from the medical faculty of Moscow Imperial University founded in 1758. The history of Sechenov University is tightly connected with the history of medical education and healthcare in Russia.
Education
For over two centuries Sechenov University has been a pioneer in the Russian healthcare system. A lot of outstanding physicians and scientists, who contributed significantly to the progress in medicine, worked at the University. In 2018, Sechenov University celebrates its 260th Anniversary.
Research
By the 260th Anniversary, the University has grown into academic, research and resource Center of Excellence in the Russian healthcare system. Sechenov University develops Medicine of the Future based on strong academic foundation in clinical medicine, expanding frontiers in advanced multidisciplinary research together with the world leaders in Engineering, Technology and Natural Sciences.

Library services
Nowadays the Sechenov University's Central Scientific Library has at its disposal a unique collection of scientific publications in medicine and healthcare and one of the Russia’s best Centers of Library Information Technologies Development and Introduction. It contains more than 3 million items of Russian and foreign medical books and journals.
Campus life
Clinical campus of Sechenov University was established in 1897. It was considered as one of the best and largest teaching hospitals in Europe.
In-patient departments of University Hospital provide multi-specialty high-tech healthcare services. In 2018, Comprehensive Cancer Center was established at Sechenov University. It provides cancer patients with full range of medical services.
Sports facilities
Supporting an idea of preventive healthcare Sechenov University has its own stadium named Burevestnik at the disposal of students and staff members of the University. It is located in immediate proximity to the academic buildings and hospitals and comprises a football field, two track-and-field sectors, four tennis courts and a tennis wall, as well as artificial playground, gym, halls for sports classes, changing rooms, shower cabins, etc.
Accreditation
The ASIIN accreditation given to Sechenov University in 2019 confirms that its programme complies not only with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area.
