History
Located in the heart of the Region of the Araucanía, the Universidad de La Frontera was born and grows through the effort and commitment of its community. Its story began in 1981 when a Government decree merged the regional campuses of the Santiago universities, forming the derived regional universities.
Education
The University offers 45 undergraduate programs, 9 doctoral programs, 31 master’s programs, 17 programs in medical specialties, 5 programs in dentistry specialties, 8 specialty programs in nursing, a specialty program in midwifery, a specialty program in computer science and a specialty program in medical physics.
Research
The UFRO is an institution that generates knowledge through an excellent research, nationally and internationally recognized, and which responds to the challenges of a dynamic and demanding environment.

The Universidad de La Frontera fulfilled its challenge of providing a public guarantee for its quality assurance processes, consolidating its position as a comprehensive University, when it securedits third accreditation from the National Accreditation Commission (CNA) in the five strategic areas for five years(2013-2018).
