History
Gubkin University was founded in 1930 by the outstanding scientist, academician Ivan Gubkin. For almost a century, the University has trained more than 90,000 diploma engineers, Candidates and Doctors of Sciences.

Gubkin University is the leading Russian industry institution that trains specialists for the global oil and gas industry. Over 11,000 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, including international students from more than 70 countries, are enrolled at the University.

Gubkin University is the leading industry institution that trains professionals for the oil and gas complex and carries out research over the whole range of the industry issues. Presently, the total number of the university research and academic staff equals to 1176, including 282 Doctors and 605 Candidates of Science.

Campus life
- Gubkin University campus is located in the south-west of Moscow not far from Kaluzhskaya metro station. Campus housing includes 5 multi-storey buildings for 4,176 accommodation places.
- The University campus is a conveniently located complex with well-developed infrastructure, equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable students’ stay and rest – shared rooms, sports halls, a gym, a computer center, a movie hall, rooms for out-of-class activities such as music, drama etc. Dormitories are located 30-40 minutes by public transport from the main University academic buildings.
Sports facilities
The University provides students with everything needed for sports activities and preparation for competitions. There are 5 gyms located in the University buildings; and a sports hall, a stadium and sports rooms – on campus.
