The IPB belongs to the European Network for Universities of Applied Sciences (UASnet), which main objectives include the transferability of professional skills and the integration of applied research in their professional and technological education mission.
IPB has also an internationalization programme with widely recognized success, including the annual mobility of more than 900 incoming and outgoing students and 300 teaching staff members, as the result of the collaboration with several higher education institutions from all over the World. Nowadays the IPB is a multicultural institution, where 30% of its students are international students.
Research
The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) is a Portuguese University of Applied Sciences with 8000 students and 500 teachers and researchers. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. Housing services
Obtaining accommodation in Bragança and Mirandela is easy and low cost. Both of the cities have modern flats to rent, available for competitive prices. It is possible to rent a room with private bathroom for about 120€ per month. This amount is often lower when the room is shared or when some students decide to rent a flat together.
The IPB has also students’ residence; however they are intended for national students with Social Services’ scholarship. The Social Services of the IPB offer 400 beds, located in three buildings of students’ residences in Bragança and two buildings in Mirandela. Bedclothes, towels, laundry, studying rooms and social rooms are available in the students’ residences.
Library services
The Digital Library of IPB, aims to promote and allow free access to scientific literature produced by the academic community, promoting integration, visibility and sharing of scientific information and ensuring the preservation of intellectual memory of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.
Medical services
The IPB has its own Health Office, which was created as a result of a protocol with Regional Health Administration and also with cooperation of IPB’s teaching staff. The Health Office offers nursery, dietetics, psychology, social and prevention of dependency services. This Office plays an important role in the academic community of IPB, paying attention to international students as well.
Sports facilities
The IPB has sports facilities located in Santa Apolónia Campus, which consist of a football pitch, an open athletic field and locker rooms. The other sports facilities are located close to canteen and consist of a smaller football pitch with illumination and locker rooms. Those facilities are available for IPB’s school activities and can also be used for extracurricular activities. Its booking should be made in Social Services.
