History

The University of Law is one of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education. In fact, we've trained more practising lawyers in the UK than anyone else. We can trace our origins to 1876 with the formation of leading tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon.

Education

Offering students the best of both worlds, The University of Law now provides professional legal training courses in more locations across the UK. Our innovative GDL and LPC courses are now available to study at the University of Exeter, the University of Reading and the University of Liverpool, combining the excellence of ULaw’s teaching with the outstanding student experience and stunning surroundings of these highly-regarded universities.

Combining professional legal training courses, expert legal tutoring from qualified lawyers, and beautiful university campus surroundings, you’ll get an exceptional student experience, while studying courses designed to help you excel – both professionally and personally.

Career

What really sets us apart from other universities is our belief that our students should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context. We focus exclusively on practice-based training and give students access to our extensive careers service and jobs vacancy database as soon as they accept a place with us. Through our pro bono programme, law students can hone their skills by working on real cases before they graduate.

Campus life

With campuses based in many of the UK’s most vibrant and interesting cities, The University of Law offers a first-class, professional learning experience in a diverse choice of locations. Our unique switching facility allows students to choose to study at one, two or more campuses to sample life in different cities during their studies.

Sports facilities

You’ll enjoy a range of interactive and lively activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Business games, mock trials and negotiation competitions are just some of the practical exercises you’ll take part in to develop your legal skills. In your spare time, you can join a range of clubs and societies, sports teams and fundraising committees, or even start your own, as well as enjoying the more relaxed side of student social life.

Student clubs

All students are automatically members of the University’s Student Association (SA). The SA is tasked with enhancing your student and academic experience by having a strong representation of the student cohort.

The SA primarily supports students by being a strong and active voice for you at all levels of the University. The Student Association President leads on ensuring the student voice is heard in committees and working groups that cover a range of subjects and topics across the University.

You can join a Student Association Events Committee to work with your fellow students in developing a full and varied programme of extra-curricular activities, clubs and societies, and much more.
