Agro Rennes-Angers Institute

Created in 2008, AGROCAMPUS OUEST took over from its two founding institutions, whose origins date back to the 19th century:

  • Agrocampus Rennes (National Institute of Agricultural and Agri-food Higher Education and Research)
  • The Institut national d'horticulture (INH) in Angers
In January 2022, AGROCAMPUS OUEST becomes l'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers.

The newly created Institute is designed to provide France with a leading, university-level institution focusing on food, agriculture and the environment. It has three main aims: to train students, conduct academic and applied research and transfer knowledge to society at large.

The 13 research units (11 of which are under the authority of AGROCAMPUS OUEST, and with 3 of which it is associated) cover the 5 main areas with high application potential that AGROCAMPUS OUEST is keen to develop :

  • Vegetal, animal, systems
  • Environmental issues - resources, territories and urban planning
  • Fisheries science, sea, coastal zones
  • Food science
  • Landscapes
Its 130 research-lecturers conduct academic or applied research, intended to respond in an innovative fashion to current issues in life sciences. Scientific projects are jointly defined with partners.

Housing services

Angers Campus does not have any student dormitories. However, you will find below a few tips to find accomodation in Angers.

We recommend students to begin their search for housing as soon as possible upon notification of admission.

International students are strongly advised to make their search for housing remotely and to book accommodation before their arrival, in order to have an address on arrival.

Campus life
