History
Lviv Polytechnic National University is the oldest technical higher educational institution in Ukraine and East Europe. It was founded in 1816. University consists of 16 institutes, 114 departments; autonomous, additional and general subdivisions.
Education
Lviv Polytechnic National University trains students in 16 research-educational institutes, there students from Ukraine and other countries are enrolled in 64 bachelor programmes (first cycle of higher education) and 124 specialties (second cycle programmes), 123 out of which are master programmes. There are over 2,200 faculty members, 320 of whom hold the degree of Doctor of Science and over 1200 — the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Modern teaching laboratories and computing laboratories with Internet access enable courses to be kept up to date and taught to a high standard.
Research
From its early establishment Lviv Polytechnic has proved to be a powerful center of science and education in Europe, the generator of technical ideas and inventions. Based on many years of theoretical and experimental activities at the University were developed the scientific schools that are well known in Ukraine and abroad. They have leading positions in Ukraine in the following scientific and technical areas: nanomaterials and nanotechnology, new materials and technologies; energy- and resource-saving technologies; basic research of the most important natural, social and human sciences; advanced computer systems and information technology; instrumentation and measuring equipment.

The campus is a unit of Lviv Polytechnic University and governed by the current legislation of Ukraine, the standard provisions of the dormitories/residence halls of the institution of the Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine, the Lviv Polytechnic Statute and the Regulation on campus.

Campus life
13 dormitories (one of which is suitable for families) form a domestic complex where more than 8 thousand students and postgraduates live, study and have a rest. There are 3 sports-grounds and gyms, conditions for service of students are created, the student’s clinic is located on the territory and the Student’club works.
Dormitories of Lviv Polytechnic National University are only for non-resident students, postgraduates, doctoral students (further-students), and also students from among orphans and children deprived of parental care, on condition of absence of other place of residence, only for the period of study.
Sports facilities
Lviv Polytechnic Sports Club is a structural subdivision of Lviv Polytechnic National University , which promotes the development of physical culture and sports at the university and a healthy lifestyle of young people.
Student clubs
A number of organizations are actively working in Lviv Polytechnic, and our students can join them, among them:
- The Collegium and the Bureau of Students and Postgraduates of the Institute of Architecture (IArch) are an organization that covers all areas of student life and protects students’ rights. The chairman of the IArch trade union is Danylo Plesnytskyi.
- BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) is an international organization aimed at developing students. Carries out international exchanges, engineering competitions and career fairs.
- YAC (Young Architects Club) is a club of architects in Lviv, which organizes meetings of students — architects in an informal environment with industry professionals.
Lviv Polytechnic National University is the oldest technical higher educational institution in Ukraine and East Europe. In June 1993, the year before its 150 anniversary, Lviv Polytechnic Institute get the highest IV accreditation level, university status and name “ Lviv Polytechnic State University”.
